On this lovely Fresno Friday, I am so excited to feature Cavelle Kids and the designer behind the adorable clothing, Jessica Elrod. Cavelle Kids is home to some of the absolute cutest children’s clothing you will ever see, and their flagship store is right here in Old Town Clovis. Jessica (who is as sweet as she is talented) runs the business alongside her husband, Todd, and personally designs the clothing for Cavelle Kids.
The other week on Instagram, I saw that Jessica would be hosting story time at her shop! I am always looking for community activities for my daughter Jackson, so I marked it on my calendar immediately. We walked into the shop and were welcomed by friendly faces, donut holes, and a story room filled with toys that Jackson could play with. After Jessica read a story to the kiddos, she showed them how she sketches clothing as part of her design process. I was completely inspired! This lady is insanely talented, and it was such a treat to see this part of her workflow. (Jackson was playing with a bucket at this part of the event, so she was inspired in her own way. 🙂 )
I learned that morning that Cavelle Kids will be hosting these story times every other Monday morning at 10am! How amazing is that? I love that Jessica and her husband care about this community! This coming Monday (April 2nd) they will have snakes at their story time. We are totally in!
Get to Know Jessica!
I have some fun photos to share from our story time, but first I wanted to get to know Jessica a bit more! I asked her a few fun questions, and here are her answers!
1) How did you get started in this industry?
I picked my college for Badminton of all things and took an elective in fashion design and loved it. That’s when I decided to pursue fashion and then went to Otis college of art and design for my degree. (You can see more about why Jessica and Todd started Cavelle Kids on their website! Click here!)
2) What is your favorite part of the design process?
I really design ALL the time! I get inspired by so many things and get butterflies in my stomach still over it. So I’d say my favorite part is just creating and getting ideas out onto paper. I do still like the final product but to be honest once it comes out I’m ready for the next.
3) Do your girls ever inspire you to create something specific?
Yes they do! And Harper now has started sketching her own designs out for me to make. They have helped me fine tune my designed with how the clothing feels, twirls, and also how easy it is to put on!
4) I am sure you have learned a tremendous amount over the years. What is one thing you would say to someone starting out in the industry?
Gosh I’d say the most important thing is being able to adapt. My business plan when I first started is laughable if I read it today with how God has directed my little business and how I’ve let go of things and gained things.
5) This blog series is all about celebrating great things around Fresno. What is one of your favorite things about Fresno / Clovis, or one of your favorite things to do in Fresno / Clovis?
LOVE old town Clovis! My girls were pretty much raised in my little store and my favorite thing about Clovis is the people and how much I have enjoyed trying to serve them and how loved I have felt through it.

I agree with the oversized sweatshirt 100%. 🙂
Story Time
Cavelle Kids has the cutest store front in Old Town Clovis. They are located on 3rd street between Clovis and Pollasky. This is where we joined them for story time!
Cavelle Kids also sells items from brands that match the Cavelle Kids style, like these amazing shoes.
Jessica puts so much detail into each piece of clothing. Look at the adorable detail on these dresses!
Cavelle Kids is connected to another amazing business, Derksen Photography. These two collaborate together often, as their skills and style are a perfect match.
We gathered in the story room for story time! You might think Jackson is paying close attention to the story right now. But that, my friends, is the magic of the camera. 🙂 She is actually just enjoying playing with this bowl and intently watching an old kid next to her. 🙂Next, Jessica showed how she sketches her clothing! This is a skill I do not have, so I was incredibly inspired! We were all having a great time, but I think this girl might have been having the most fun. 🙂
How cool is this!? She just sketched those like it was no big deal! Jackson and I had such a great time! We can’t wait for the next story time!
I hope to see some of you at story time soon! If you’re in Old Town Clovis, take a look through Cavelle Kids and be inspired!
See you next Friday!
