Fresno knows tacos. We make a lot of tacos in this city. And they are really, really good. In fact, our Triple-A baseball team “The Grizzlies” turns into “The Tacos” every year during the Taco Truck Throwdown. Call me cheesy, but our love of tacos is something that brings people together. 🙂
Steven and I get pretty excited about finding the perfect tacos, so, this week, for the sake of research, Steven and I enjoyed 3 different taco shops. (It was for research, okay!?)
Keep reading to see what shops and trucks we enjoyed, and what taco joint is still our favorite.
You’ll also want to scroll down to see Jackson trying a lemon for the first time. 🙂
On Saturday night, we went to Gazebo Gardens and enjoyed El Premio Mayor’s taco truck. Yummmmm. So good! If you haven’t been out to Gazebo Gardens on the weekend, do yourself a big favor and go asap! There are tons of food trucks, live music, and families having a grand ol’ time. To top it all off, even dogs can join the fun! The atmosphere makes me say “awwwww, I love this place,” every 3 minutes on the dot. 🙂 Hopefully you can catch El Premio Mayor at the Gardens soon, because they are definitely some of the best tacos in town!
We wanted to try a taco shop that we had never been to before, so on Tuesday, we ventured downtown to La Elegante Taqueria. Add them to the list of delicious Fresno Tacos!
Okay, call me crazy: but I prefer my tacos plain. I know, I know. I’m missing all the good stuff. But I love the simple combo of meat, cheese, and tortilla!
While we were there, Jackson was excited to try her first lemon. She actually seemed to really enjoy it for the most part! We still managed to get a couple photos of the classic lemon reaction. 🙂
Our last taco adventure was a Valentine’s Day lunch at Taco’s Tijuana Y Mariscos. This has been our favorite taco shop for the last few years. After our “research” this week… it still is! 🙂 We love it here. It combines the taste of a taco truck with the feel of a casual Mexican restaurant. They bring chips and salsa to your table like a restaurant, but the tacos are priced like a taco truck! For me, they are the perfect taste and are less greasy than some tacos tend to be. The staff is always friendly, and there is plenty of space inside for any size group. And look how cute they are with their Valentine’s Day balloons!
(Just a tip: if you decide to try this place, there are other taco shops with similar names, but you’ll want to include “y Mariscos” in your search. They are on Cedar and Belmont.) Don’t tell anyone, but I brought a La Croix with me from home. I’m trying to drink soda only on rare occasions, but you gotta have some kick with your tacos!
La Elegante serves lemons with their meal, but Taco’s Tijuana y Mariscos serves limes. It only seemed fair that Jackson try a lime, too. I think she likes lemons a little bit more. 🙂
Thanks for joining our taco adventure! What are your favorite taco shops in town!? Tell us what ones we need to try next! See ya next Friday!
